Boeye eReader Kindle clones spotted at GITEX – better, faster, stronger

The Boeye Kindle clone

The Boeye Kindle clone

Here’s another story from Tech Lahore about another Boeye product. This time it’s a near replica of the Kindle 2 and Kindle DX. And while the looks might be spot on, Boeye has improved upon the Kindle by making it cheaper and DRM free!

The Boeye eReader itself features the same screen size (6″ E-Ink for the Kindle and 9.7″ for the DX) and dimensions as the Kindle and Kindle DX. The button layout is nearly identical (the Boeye uses rectagular QWERTY keys instead of round). But the major thing that makes the Kindle line so popular is the wireless connections. How did Boeye get around that?

It’s unrealistic to put 3G in the Boyeye eReader, but it does come with an integrated web browser as well as Wifi. Boeye’s Kindle 2 clone goes for $190. There’s no word on how much their DX clone will cost. Still, all the style and flavor of the Kindle minus DRM issues? That will surely raise some eyebrows.
