Chuwi has released info on the P7 PMP tablet — a 5-inch 800×480 resolution LED-backlit LCD screen run by an ARM 11GHz 600MHz processor — that will come out in China for 699 yuan ($102 U.S.).

The Chuwi P7 design looks very similar to the Teclast T56 (in the same way a Pontiac Firebird was similar to the Chevy Camaro) including sharing the same metal casing, the same screen and HDMI output. The PMP’s playback options are pretty impressive — boasting all the standard movie extentions (MPEG1/2/4, MOV, AVI, WMV, RM, FLV and H.264) along with 1080p output through the HDMI. Chuwi also says the P7 will have smoother video playback due to the dual-DDR memory in the device (though no numbers are mentioned).

The worst thing about the P7 is that it only comes with 8GB of internal storage. That means you could fit about two-thirds of the Dark Knight onto your P7 at 1080p playback. While there’s no mention of additional memory card storage listed, if it truly did copy the Teclast T56 it will have an expandable microSD card slot making it possible to upgrade the device by 32GB.
