The Digitalrise S1 and X9 tablet PCs

Digitalrise has put out a few tablet PCs in the last few months. If you don’t recall the name there’s probably a reason for that. The last time they were mentioned on Best Tablet Review it was due to their “embarrassingly underpowered” PC-729 tablet PC.

Now Digitalrise has issued two new tablet PCs, both running Windows 7 and an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU, the S1 and X9. These tablet are identical save three elements: the single/multi-touch input, memory and the price. The S1 features single-touch input, 1GB of RAM and is listed for $659.99. The X9 has multi-touch input, 2GB of RAM and costs $789.99.

Both feature a 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 resolution touchscreen, 160GB SATA HDD, a Li-Ion 3000mAh battery (rated for around 4 hours of use), 1.3MP webcam, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader (SD/MS/MMC/MS-Pro), SVGA, audio in/out and network connector. They also come with WiFi a/b/g and a GPS/Bluetooth dongle. So the real question is (if you’re even interested in the tablets themselves): is $130 worth it for multi-touch and 1GB or RAM?

The S1 is currently on sale while the X9′s sale date has been delayed until March 3rd.

  1. I just can’t do it for the price, specs, and especially battery life. I really like the slate form factor, but we’ve got a ways to go before this makes sense to me.

  2. Do not buy at China grabber! They do not deliver the goods! Worst customer service ever!
