Energy Sistem releases info on the Energy Book 1060 and 2061 eReaders

Energy Sistem's new Energy Book 1060 and 2061 eReaders

Energy Sistems has recently launched two new eBook readers under their Energy Book lineup. Both feature 6-inch 600 x 800 resolution Vizplex E-Ink displays, a European market focus and above average price tags when compared to other eReaders.

The Energy Book 1060 is the lesser priced of the two, which starts at 214,66 € (around $295) without VAT. It has 2GB of internal memory, SD/SDHC expansion up to 16GB, USB and a battery charge rated for 4,000 page turns. The Energy Book 1060 supports TXT, DOC, PDB and PDF eBook formats (surprisingly no ePub is listed), MP3, APE, WMA, FLAC and AAC audio and JPG and BMP images. It also has bookmarking, zoom and audio out. It measures 6.3 x 4.6 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.4 ounces.

Energy Sistem’s newest offering, the Energy Book 2061, sells for 257,76 € (a whopping $350 U.S.) without VAT. For that you get 64MB internal memory, SD/SDHC slot for up to 16GBs of expansion, a battery rated for 6,000 page turns and a Samsung ARM9 CPU. It supports ePub, PDF, RTF, TCR, PDB, PRC, MOBI, HTML, TXT, FB2, CHM, DJVU, and DJV eBooks, MP3 audio and JPG, BMP, GIF and TIF images. It has bookmarking, a search option, comes with headphones and a 2GB SD card with 100 classic eBooks in Spanish, French and English. The 2061 measures 7 x 5 x 0.4 inches and weighs 8 ounces.

Both are available now, but seeing how much they cost and that there are no WiFi or 3G options, we couldn’t understand anyone choosing them over a lesser priced, more capable Sony Reader (PRS-300 or 600), Kindle or Nook.
