Hyper Gear HGSEALED encrypted eReader
Hyper Gear is an eReader/software package developed by Japanese company Haipagia that encrypts your files from prying eyes and grabby hands. It sells a Hyper Gear “ePaper terminal” (model HDSEALED) and software which can encrypt files and set passwords for the devices to protect against possible theft or corporate sabotage. If the Hyper Gear HDSEALED is lost or stolen then all of the encrypted information is safe unless the thief somehow knows the password. It also allows for employees to take home secure documents without them being able to move them off the device.
The HGSEALDED eReader is a pretty bare-bones device that has a 6 inch 600×800 E-Ink display, measures 7.4 x 4.65 x 0.36 inches and weighs a little less than 6.5 oz. Excel, Powerpoint, Word and PDF formats can be run through the encrypting software and then placed on the device. Say, for instance, you were a major company looking to release some new sort of device that everyone was rambling on about and you wanted to keep information about said slab device under wraps, then this would be a good solution for you.
Apple Unnamed companies can buy the Hyper Gear starter kit (one eReader and two software packages) for 95,000 yen (about $1,050 U.S.) and get additional eReader units for 38,900 yen a piece (around $430). Shipping will start in late December.
