KraftCom Rugboard 10A touchscreen tablet PC: made tough, made German tough

Der KraftCom Rugboard 10A tablet PC
The German manufacturer KraftCom has been designing and selling tablet PCs for quite a few years now. They’re not geared for the typical consumer — instead they’re industry oriented — but their new Rugboard 10A tablet offers an abundance of features housed in a rugged shell. With no moving parts (no cooling fans or spinning hard drives) the 10A is dust and water resistant and features an outdoor-viewable 10.4 inch 1024×768 resolution resistive-touch XGA screen. It runs with an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor and Windows Touch XP. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 4GB CompactFlash storage which can be upgraded to 4GB or RAM and either 8 or 16GB of flash storage or a 30GB HDD. There’s an additional SD card slot, two USB ports, a VGA-out, camera and fingerprint scanner along with WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth. Optional 3G connectivity through HSDPA and GPS can be ordered. The battery is rated to last up to eight hours on a full charge.
There’s no mention of price or how much the optional 3G, GPS, memory or storage upgrades will cost. Since this is mostly geared to outdoor industry we’d expect budget pricing to not be high on KraftCom’s list of priorities for the device. Still, it’s nice to see the progression coming from the German company.
