M-Tube making Android MID tablet for your living room
If you’re a regular reader of Best Tablet Review you can attest to the idea that tablets are a versatile device. Even though we write strictly about slab tablets we have categories about tablet PCs, mobile tablets, personal media players, eReaders or eBooks, MIDs and graphics tablets. That’s why we’re excited to see another entry into the “living room tablet” concept — a tablet strictly for the control and streaming of media from your tablet to your TV.
The concept has already been touched upon by the Samsung LED Couple — a 55 inch LCD TV complete with 7 inch tablet controller. Now M-Tube has announced an Android based 7.6 inch capacitive touch screened MID with ARM processor made just for your living room. Think of it as the master control for all of your media.
Using a wireless connection — although it’s not sure what the exact technology is — the M-Tube can take videos, music and pictures from the tablet and play them streaming to your television. But wait! There’s more! The M-Tube can also play media on itself and even move files wireless between two M-Tube tablets. Like the Samsung LED Couple, it can also stream media from the TV to the tablet. For instance, you really need to go to the bathroom but don’t want to miss your favorite part of Army of Darkness. Simply gesture the content on your TV to your tablet, pick it up and go (literally).
M-Tube is currently in talks to integrate there tablet with TVs. We like the direction this is going. Hopefully in two years all large HDTVs will have optional tablet controls. As seen on Slashgear.
