New video shows off Microsoft Courier tablet functionality

Among the more interesting things is the way the Courier allows you to cut and copy an image with your finger or included pen. By dragging the image to the spine or hinge of the Courier it saves it there and allows you to flip to the page you’d like to copy to. Once there, just touch and drag the image to where you’d like it to go. A very pleasant work-around to what could have been a more complicated solution.
The video also focuses on the “infinite journal” function of the device. Basically an electronic scrap book that allows you to create pages with content at your whimsy. They’re definitely appealing to a more free-form artistic thinker here (in this case they use a shoe designer as the subject) but that may turn off more structured individuals. It seems out of character for Microsoft who normally brings structured programs like Word, Excel and Powerpoint that most professionals are used to dealing with.
Update: ZDNet is reporting a rumor that the Courier will run Windows 7 and that they’re aiming for a mid-2010 launch.
