Paradigm Shift brings eReader prices even lower with their EER-051D

Soon to be the cheapest eReader on the market

Paradigm Shift is close to making our prediction of the $100 eReader by mid-year come true with their new EER-051D color eReader. Their new eReader will feature a 5-inch TFT color LCD screen, FM radio, MP3 audio and MP4 video playback and photo viewer for $129.95.

As an eReader, the Paradigm Shift EER-051D offers a surprising amount of eBook formats, including: ePub, PDF, DOC, FB2, PDB, HTML, ANSI and TXT. It has 2GB of internal flash storage and an expandable SD card slot. It will also ship in a variety of colors (similar to the COOL-ER eBook Reader) like white, blue, pink, black silver and, our favorite of course, periwinkle. Distributors will be able to buy OEM models from Paradigm Shift starting at the end of May. Delstar Wholesale Electronics has already been named as the U.S. distributor.

So what do you think? Will all you non-sensitive eye types pay $130 for a simple color screened eReader?

  1. Certainly will! My only interest is in being able to download books via wireless and read read read!
Only problem is I’m in Australia and the powers that be are limiting my selections. Where can I buy this delightfully priced coloured item and will it work for Australians???

    • You can buy one that looks exactly like this in Officeworks. Its a Stash brand.

    • Val, well I hope I have at last made contact with you again and amazingly through mutual love of reading. I just received an ereader as a present and I love it. Please contact me on new email ttotaloc@bigpond,net,au as I do not have any current contact info for you.

  2. Hey Valda. The EER-051D has been rebranded as a bunch of different things depending on the country it’s sold in. For instance, in the States, it’s called the Delstar Openbook and is sold by a chain of drugstores (specifically Walgreens). I’m not exactly sure if there’s been a Australian distribution signed but you could try your luck with eBay.

  3. Thanks for the reply. Can U tell me if downloads are enabled via wireless. Sorry, I’m not literate in eReaders but love to read and find books difficult in bed and on the road. Also, I do love new technology! Will check out EBay as you suggest. thanks, Valda

  4. There is no WiFi included in the EER-051D (mostly to cut costs) so you’d have to download the eBooks to your computer, plug in the eReader via USB and download from there.
