The PocketBook 360 eReader gets a review
The PocketBook 360 went on sale in November but we’ve only now just come across our first review of the eReader. Thanks to the Lewis Four, who posted a very detailed review, we now know a little more about this mid-$200 eBook reader.
Let’s start with a brief summary of the pros. The PocketBook 360 seems to be quite the speedy page turner as shown in the video above. It outperformed the Nook and Kindle 2 by pretty healthy margins during page turn tests. It boots in a little over 10 seconds and loads most eBooks in 4-5 seconds. It supports Adobe Digital Editions, has a fast search function and a very clear Vizplex display. Finally, it has a very small size and weight making it ideal to carry around.
Now onto the cons. There was an issue with trying to undock the PocketBook 360 from the reviewer’s Mac. Instead of dragging the icon to trash and disconnect, it would continually pop back up forcing the reviewer to physically pull the USB to eject the unit. PDFs and other formats don’t have font size controls. The selector automatically goes to the end of the list when using a content menu which could be rather frustrating if looking a list of a hundred eBooks or images. Finally, the reviewer had to download the English dictionary as it wasn’t preinstalled.
Overall, The Lewis Four had good things to say about the PocketBook 360 eReader. They’d like to see it come down to a sub-$200 price (who wouldn’t?), but like it for its small size and speed. We encourage you to read the full review here.
