The ChromePad? A Chrome OS tablet by Google and HTC?

HTC and Google teaming to bring us the ChromePad?

Since the last edition of Chrome was released by Google many have said that it was a harbinger for a tablet OS. It certainly looks like this may be the case and the Google is in bed with no other than HTC to facilitate it. This makes pretty good sense considering HTC was the developing partner with Google’s new Nexus One smart phone.

According to The Business Insider, Google and HTC have been working for the past 18 months on tablet prototypes. While most used the Android OS (including one that will possibly be on display at CES) they have a new prototype that uses the most recent Chrome release as its operating system — a ChromePad if you will. This could spell significant competition to the upcoming iSlate, iGuide or whatever the Apple Tablet will be called. Although, looking at the competition Google and HTC has levied against the iPhone, we could be looking at another tablet destined to carve a small marketplace percentage.
