The Dell Streak mobile internet tablet — complete with 3G and Android

Two months ago we talked about rumors that Dell and Intel had entered a partnership and were working on a five-inch internet tablet that they planned on (shock!) giving away for free. Well, what do you know, looks like the rumor was correct.

Leaked video and pictures of the Dell Streak mobile internet tablet were posted on Slashgear today. As you can see from the above video the Dell tablet is very real and it looks pretty spectacular. The Streak MID runs on an Android 2.0 Donut platform and has a five-inch 800×480 WVGA touchscreen. It will feature Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G wireless connectivity, have a 5MP camera with dual-LED flash and a microSD card slot.

The Dell Streak is still in prototype stages (which may explain the loooong start up time in the video) so no other information is available at this time. We’d be interested to hear if Dell is still considering giving it away free and charging a contract rate as was mentioned previously.

Dell is creating the MID to compete with the iPod Touch so expect it to be priced similarly or slightly cheaper to combat Apple’s popularity. See more pictures of the Dell Streak at Slashgear.
