The Shenzhen Eros tablet doesn’t inspire much love

The Eros tablet. Are you in love yet?

Shenzhen’s new tablet offering, the Eros, seems appropriately named at first. It has a very lustful 10.2-inch 1366×768 resolution resistive touchscreen which obviously supports actual 720p HD playback. It offers some sizable junk in the trunk storage and RAM options — 160GB with 1GB of RAM and 320GB and 2GB of RAM. But as with most relationships, Eros’s arrow seems to lose its juice as you find out more.

To start, the Shenzhen Eros is powered by an Atom N270 which, while not bad necessarily, certainly isn’t the freshest processor on the block. It’s also not going to have that much stamina for potential partnerships as its 3 cell battery only lasts for one and a half hours when running Windows 7. There’s also the option to have the Eros run Windows XP (which raises battery life by an hour).

The common characteristics of the Eros is that it has two USB ports, audio in/out and SD and CF (CompactFlash) card slots. It wears a 10 x 7 x 0.87 inch dimension and, though we should never mention weight in public, it weighs in at a hefty 1.9 pounds (but you didn’t hear that from us). While there’s no firm price on the Eros or exactly what hardware and software options run, it’s rumored to be under 3,000 yuan ($440).
