The Soyea Z5 MID tablet shakes up the Chinese MID market – by being expensive

Soyea Z5 MID - yours for only $900
The Soyea Z5 MID shakes up that whole “cheap tablet” stigma by putting a hefty ¥6,999 (over $1,000 U.S.) price tag on its new tablet offering. Of course the high price on the Soyea Z5 could be attributed to the “real tax” — which is a tax levied on devices that actually make it to production (and doesn’t actually exist).
To be fair the Z5 has more than the average MID including an Intel Atom Z515 1.2GHz processor that runs Windows XP or Linux. It has a five inch 800×600 WVGA touchscreen and comes with 1GB of RAM, microSD, miniUSB, integrated speakers and mic. Another huge perk is the Z5’s connection options, which feature 3G, Bluetooth and Wifi b/g. On the “eh” side it only comes with an 8GB SSD drive.
It’s currently up for sale on Amazon China for ¥1,000 off the MSRP (just south of $900 U.S.)!
