Dude, he's building a Dell Tablet

Rob928 from the MyDellMini forums is a rare mix of inventive and impatient — and it’s a mix we love to see. In this case it let Rob to convert his Dell Mini 9 into a Dell Mini slab tablet.

He started by taking a Dell Vostro A90 (a Dell Mini 9 by any other name), a Hoda Technology soderless touchscreen kit, some smarts and a whole lot of elbow grease and ended up churning out a 9-inch tablet with 16GB SSD, 1GB RAM, a webcam and Bluetooth. Running Windows 7 the Frankentablet not only looks nice, but (according to Rob) runs pretty nice to. There are a few issues with the tablet running a little hot but Rob hopes to put in a USB fan device and vent heat out the sides of the tablet. He also plans to gussy it up with a sweet new paint job and install an accelerometer to trigger screen orientation.

You can see his finished pics after the jump, or go to his post to see the full walkthrough. You can also go there to ask Rob any questions about the build.
